Reduce credit card debts

Let's say you have 3 credit cards and you own each of them $500. You can consolidate all your credit cards bill into one credit card. Of course you have to choose the bank which offers you the lowest interest rate. I recently got one promotion call from DBS which offers 2.5% per yearfor 6 months.

The normal credit card charge an interest of 24% per year. You bill of $1500 will incur an interest of $30 a month. So if you take up the DBS offer, the interest is about $3 a month only and you got to save $27 every month!

Waive your credit card annual fee

You don't have to pay for your credit card annual fee. Just call you credit card company and tell them you want to request for a waiver of your annual fee. The guy on the phone will want you to use your credit card points to waive off the fee but don't use the points because you can use the points to redeem for other free stuffs. Then the operator will ask you to use the card for the next few months so that you can get the waiver. You just said you will use it for the next few months and you get your annual fee waived. If you still cannot get any waiver, just cancel the card and reapply a new card that comes with free first year annual fee.

Cheap cartridges

I went to JB last weekend and got a very good deal on printer cartridges. There was a pc fair at city square and the crowd was huge! Anyway, the good deal was I got 6 black and 2 colour printer cartridges for only $15. I am using a Canon ip1000. In Singapore, I have to pay $10 for a black cartridge and $15 for colour and I am talking about compatible ones.

But I believed you can only get them at JB and not Singapore.

Golden Village movie ticket saving

I watched movie almost every week. So for those who want to save on movie tickets, there is good news. If you book your tickets online and pay the tickets with your HSBC card, you will have $1 off per ticket. Further more if you are a safra card member, you will get another $1 off per ticket. That is a total of $2 off per ticket. But the safra card $1 off only applies for friday, weekend and holiday only. The HSBC $1 off applies for all days.

Check out my movie review blog .

Savings using HSBC and OCBC credit card

I started this post to offer some saving tips for Singaporeans.

Have you heard of the HSBS $1 deal. Just spend $50 on a single receipt in a day and you only get to pay $1 dollar for a pizza hut meal.

I spent $63 to pay for a Swensen meal with my friends on Friday (22/6/07).
My wife spent $65 for a bedsheet sets on Saturday (23/6/07). Both of us are using the HSBC card. We went for dinner at Pizza Hut, show us our sms code for the 1 dollar deal and ordered 6 piece wings and curry baked rice (did not taste good) for 2 dollars only!

We also ordered the OCBC 1 for 1 pizza deal. Which means you get 1 free pizza for every pizza you ordered using the OCBC card. We ordered a regular thin crust pizza for $14.90.

So in total we spent less than $20 for the whole meal that made us really full!
All thanks to HSBC and OCBC.
